ArgonV Posted January 16 Posted January 16 (edited) I pre-ordered the Founders Ed. when it was announced. 🙂 I'm in a different boat considering my native ultra widescreen monitor resolution is 3840X1600. Still, technically this is less pixels than a 4k monitor. So I'm hoping my Intel 14700k, 64GB DDR5, and AMD 7900XTX will be enough. Do we have any data on how Korea will handle ultra-wide monitors or triple displays? Edited January 16 by ArgonV Quote

Duff_Phlaps Posted January 26 Posted January 26 Dang. In that case...might hold off purchasing and stick with DCS for now. Not gonna upgrade my GPU for one game. 1 Quote

asmodeos Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Will the price stay at $79.99 when early access is available? I'm excited and will get on board at that point, but not before. Quote

sammydee Posted January 31 Posted January 31 I've managed for years to stay ahead of any problem with the Great Battles specs but I have thought for some time that this year will mean a new setup if I'm to be able to run Korea so I've been budgeting for a while with this in mind and planning on a figure of around £900 thinking that that amount will at least let me play with a bit higher settings than minimum requirement. So confident was I that yesterday was the first time I've checked. Sadly that amount will barely get me in to minimum specs it seems. Back to the drawing board then and no Korea for me in 2026. 😪 Quote

P.S. I'm not sure I should be wishing for a massive investment bubble to collapse and sink the global economy, but if it is going to happen anyway - I hope it happens in a way which lets my fellow enthusiasts join in enjoying the sim. 2 Quote
Dash,Polder Posted January 31 Posted January 31 It'll be a mistake using Great Battles as any sort of measuring tool to gauge performance. Like trying to run a high performance engine with lower octane out of a gas can that's been setting for five years. Of course your top notch hardware is limited. Your better off measuring your PC's performance against some newer titles. Might be surprised how much better Korea will perform on the same hardware, after all could you reasonably expect to see all those B-29's they, ran publicly as a demo, formed up in Great Battles on any machine known to man? 1 Quote
Avimimus Posted January 31 Posted January 31 For what its worth - I have managed to run sims by these developers on PCs which were below the minimum specs. I also managed to run Great Battles at 4k native using a GT1660 6GB card with decent FPS (something which really shouldn't have been possible). But we won't know until it is released. Also, it is worth noting that, if you PC is below the minimum specs and you manage to get the sim to run - you can't really blame the developers if they improve the sim in a way which means that it requires the minimum specs (i.e. there is no guarantee that you can run it at all if you are below the minimum specs). This happened to me with Rise of Flight - I was well below the minimum specs, there was an upgrade, and suddenly I couldn't use it anymore - except for flying 1 vs. 1 in a specific part of one of the online maps... and I found a way to enjoy it. 2 Quote

So if you have at least a 30xx series RTX GPU, I think Korea will run ok. It won't look like the trailers, but they never do! As long as the materials look similar to the trailers, and all the additional details are present, I'll be happy. The materials really look excellent and serve to really improve the overall appearance of the game (steel looks like steel, etc). And I'm looking forward to the map detail much improved as in the trailers. Edited February 1 by asmodeos 2 1 Quote

That`s the thing: all the tech bros with Mariana Trench pockets are buying up all the kit. Yes, I know it`s all `free market`, but that can often be translated as a rush to the bottom. Without going off into politics, I just wish that hardware suppliers could ringfence a supply of components that we little people could buy, but then that`s going off into rationing (ooh-err a bit of politics did creep in - I apologise). I can imagine there`s a massive market of scalpers buying PC hardware like they`d buy gold. Sometimes it a bubble to burst to bring people to their senses; sadly, history would suggest otherwise. All I know is that I am going to have to stump up relatively significant sums to buy a flight pit, HOTAS and VR. Having said that, it`s a lot cheaper than buying a sports car (not that I would even if I had the money), and a lot safer too (given the propensity for impatient drivers to go off on road rage, as well as the risk of blowing out a tyre on a pothole, which seem to be prevalent on UK roads). 2 Quote

Does use this key number to activate steam access ? No, that is a key specific to the standalone version. Steam keys are different and need to be generated from within that platform. I also haven't seen anyone official state that we get a Steam key if we pre-order the standalone version. 1 Quote
