TP_Fritz Posted March 27 Posted March 27 So, for all of you experienced single-player and campaign-creator mission designers out there, how do you approach creating multiple aircraft groups converging at the same location at the same time, if taking off independently or arriving from different locations? I'm working on a mission where I have 4 groups of AI planes taking off, one after the other, and then I need them to meet up at a rendezvous point at - basically - the same time. I've considered two options - a): trying to keep their airspeeds the same and using waypoint placement to try to make this work, or b): trying to do it using the airspeed of the waypoints themselves to manipulate the plane's speeds so they arrive at the same time Both will require quite a bit of work to get just right, so I am curious how some of you might approach this same issue, or have approached it in the past, and / or if there is a somewhat tried and true method for this.
Vendigo Posted March 27 Posted March 27 From my expereince - various types of aircraft tend to fly at slightly different speeds even if their Waypoints speed is the same, especially if they are bombers and fighters. The difference is more noticeable if they fly a longer distrance. I think the only working method is running the same mission over and over, each time adjusting their Waypoints' airspeeds until they perform as desired. My single player campaigns: "Fortress Stalingrad" "Hunter in the snow" "Battlefield Kerch" "Ruspoli at the gates of Odesa"
Z_F Posted March 27 Posted March 27 It's not too bad to do. You can also change take-off times, and / or if one group gets there too fast - just extend their route to the rendezvous point by adding / moving WP's.
