PaperPilot Posted March 23 Posted March 23 Hi all, I was just concerned about the possibility that I am going to have to keep getting new gaming PC desktops every three to four years to keep up with follow up modules when they do the Pacific, (possibly) mainland Asia, and return to Europe and do places on the Eastern and Western Fronts, as well as Italy, Malta and North Africa. Is this concern valid?

No. As is the case in IL2:GB, it's likely that new technologies will be implemented over the years, leading to some increase in hardware requirements. But it's extremely unlikely these increases will be large enough that you need to buy a new PC, unless you've got a bare minimums machine to start with. 1

I'll buy the game, but I think it will be a while until I can aford a new computer so you won't be seeing me on the servers for a couple of years. Edited March 23 by PaperPilot
Avimimus Posted March 24 Posted March 24 It is impossible to say for sure. I suspect that the developers will want to continue enhancing terrain technologies, which may lead to a modest increase. However, based on their past track record - I was able to keep flying from 2011 to 2021 on the same machine and system requirements were pretty stable. I was beginning to experience some stutter at the end due to not having any SSDs (I had a motherboard from the last generation before SSD support was provided - so pure hard drives)... but that was only really noticeable in Battle of Normandy. Also, the rate at which hardware is improving has been quite a bit slower overall compared to what it used to be. So my best guess is that system requirements will be pretty stable for five or more years. No promises, of course. 1

If what you say holds true, then it will ease my concern.
