Fw-190 A, problem with locking the rear wheel before landing.

Hello, I just want to ask, I have a problem, when landing with the Fw-190 A, I can't lock the rear wheel just before landing, I land and halfway through the runway at a certain speed the wheel starts to vibrate and then turns sharply either to the left or right and when landing I struggle with the rudder and sometimes I crash the plane. 😇😁

You can only lock it by pulling back on the stick.

Yeah the tail wheel automatically locks with stick back pressure.  The P-51 has a similar system but you have to push forward to unlock the tail wheel, so it is locked by default.

To avoid that in the future: always read specification before flying new plane.

just as they said.

Land at about 180 km/h, and as the plane is firm on the ground, so it's not bouncing at all , start pulling the stick, as to be enough pulled as to lock the rear wheel. whan the speed is lower, and the rudder is no longer effective, so at about 100 km/h, you should have the wheel already fully locked. kepp pressure on the stick as long as you want the wheel locked, as to come to a full stop.

Really a ideal solution, as long as you got rudder authority you don’t need locked tailwheel.

Přistaňte rychlostí asi 180 km/ha protože letadlo pevně drží na zemi, takže se vůbec nepohupuje, začněte tahat za páku tak, aby byla dostatečně přitažená, aby se zadní kolo zablokovalo. Když je rychlost nižší a směrovka již není účinná, tedy při rychlosti asi 100 km/h, měli byste mít kormidlo již zcela zablokované. Držte tlak na páce tak dlouho, dokud chcete, aby se kolo zablokovalo, dokud se letadlo úplně nezastaví.

Yes, I have the rudder pedals. 😊
