Bajzon20 Posted March 14 Posted March 14 I will definitely buy the early access for bombers as soon as they appear, no matter how much it costs. I have been an enthusiast of these planes since the early War Thunder era, so for me such a DLC is a kind of "return to the past" but in a much better game. 1 1

I mean I've heard that there will be no more modules, but I mean collector plane-wise. It may have said somewhere but I never saw it so I apologise for asking a question with an already known answer. I will give a piece of advice from long experience: It is best to assume that. One will be happier. Of course, we cannot constrain the developers and their plans may change. If the bombers sell well, and a third party is interested, maybe a Ju-188 or Tu-2 isn't impossible... and there are still a handful of interesting fighters left.. but, I also suspect that a lot of interest will shift towards the updated engine (Korea) by the end of the year. So it is probably wisest bet to assume this is the tail end (even if it isn't a safe bet)... more chances to be pleasantly surprised! 48 minutes ago, Fergal said: The developers always seem to produce aircraft that are not mainstream, such as the FW-189, which I'm excited for & looking forward to flying. Now, if they could make a BV-142...... The DO-335 was a favourite of mine from the original IL-2 series. Bit surprised that float planes, such as HE-115 or AR-196, haven't been developed, but I assume it's down to limitations. Let's keep this thread for discussing the six announced aircraft - and keep the wishlists in this earlier thread: 1
dannytherat Posted March 14 Posted March 14 Will the number of crew members (and retention of the belly turret) in the B-25 vary by user? The RAF usually operated its Mitchell Mk.IIs with a reduced crew of 4 (pilot, navigator/bomb-aimer, top turret gunner and belly turret gunner). My great-uncle flew on ops as a Mitchell navigator/bomb-aimer with 98 Sqn RAF in 1943, so this is an aircraft that's close to my heart! 3
MADLOU Posted March 14 Posted March 14 Woo! Woo! Between these proposed additional aircraft and the new Korean title, I think I will be in flight sim heaven! Goodbye DCS! 2
Buffo002 Posted March 14 Posted March 14 Please, would someone be willing to make a list of these new aircraft? It's hard to find them in all the links. 😇
=gRiJ=Roman- Posted March 14 Posted March 14 (edited) I am very excited about the new aircraft. Do not take me wrong for these questions ... 1. Does it mean that we are going to have torpedoes dropped from planes finally, and that it will also be implemented in other planes in the future? (it would be a little game-breaker and a big step forward, IMHO). 2. Why not soviet bombers? We do really need some ... 3. What about the big missing Do217? Why not? It's just the only main one missing early and mid-war stages ... in the German side Edited March 14 by =gRiJ=Roman-
LuftManu Posted March 14 Posted March 14 Awesome news team! I’m very excited to both all the new bombers and also torpedos??? 😬 Rig: RTX 5090 Astral 32 GB / Ryzen 9850 X3D /Gigabyte X870E Pro X3D Motherboard / 48 GB DDR5 Teamgroup 8000 MT/s / MSI 321 URX QD-OLED 32" 4K
AcesDarthBubu Posted March 14 Posted March 14 With torpedoes, we will have also more AI ships? WIshful thinking? 1
Bajzon20 Posted March 14 Posted March 14 I'm very curious about a few things... 1. Will new formation types be added too? Which ones will be useful for bomber flights? Combat Box, for example? 2. I'm curious how the AI will be deal with torpedo attacks on ships, especially in single-player missions and career mode. This will require changes to the AI's behavior. 3. And if there is an A-20G/J, does that mean that the aircraft leading the missions will be the J variant?
Aapje Posted March 14 Posted March 14 If we get torpedoes, that might be because they need the for the Pacific and can then already test them in the old engine.
Avimimus Posted March 14 Posted March 14 Note: I'm moving posts which are wishlisting other planes to the other thread (see my earlier post). 18 hours ago, Rocket_Knut said: @=FB=VikS So, just to avoid any sort of confusion: As far as crew stations and their accessability are concerned, the future A-20J will be the same as the A-20B already in the game? No access to the bombardiers position, right? I´m asking because I think, I remember a question regarding crew stations has been asked quite recently and the answer looked a bit different. Thanks in advance for the clarification. A related question to this - even if the interior wouldn't be technically accurate to the earlier variant - is there any chance of using an A-20J bomb aimer position's 3d model to give the A-20B a similar cockpit as well? (Also, are there plans for the 12xRocket tube loadout for the A-20G)? 19 hours ago, =FB=VikS said: not sure yet, as maybe we just need to remove it at all - as there us no point to have something that everyone will remove 🙂 (and actually it would save a plenty of texture space) Yes, I expect that the glare problem from the lower cockpit panels won't be as much of an issue in the sim, and our lives don't depend on these things they way they would for real pilots (so even if we get some glare - it isn't that big a deal, and if anything, keeps people from romanticising glass-house cockpits). 🙂

Unlike skins, which can control the appearance of bombs (like with the P-51B). I don't think they can affect the visibility of a pilot model. 1 1

It is interesting how implementations differ quite a bit - I built some mods for Il-2 1946 and it was possible to make the visibility of crew models vary depending on loadout. I produced some ridiculously under crewed He-111s (I think I'd read that they sometimes flew with reduced crew at night or to save weight). I also remember trying to delete gun turrets to create civilianised (1919 era) versions of some of the planes in Rise of Flight... it didn't really work though. Also tried it with the GAZ truck (I was feeling guilty about racing the truck, and having roll-overs with all of the crew on board). 1
