Hello, how do I complete a career mission (so that it lets me go on to the next mission) when my primary goal is at the end, an area or point where I should fly, but halfway through we encounter enemy aircraft. I shot down 1 and damaged the other, but the La-5 is low on ammo, so I fired all the ammo halfway through, now of course it shows me that the mission is not completed, so I fly to that point, but there I am alone and 5x 109 attack me and I am in ...  😄 How do I do it? Should I ignore the enemy aircraft on the way to the primary point and fly there to complete the mission?

It would require some kind of keyboard shortcut where a person would select the reason why they cannot continue the mission to let you into the next mission. For example: After activating that key, a table and a selection of multiple options:
I ran out of ammunition
I ran out of fuel
My plane is damaged
Etc. and after selecting one of the buttons it would say: Return to base

You know, you can fail missions and still proceed

Happened to me when I needed to do some ground pounding in a Spitfire at later stages of Normandy, but the flight path was cursed (lots of frontline flak) and we got intercepted halfway to our target. So I just started a mission and finished it without even taking off.

A failure is a failure, but I saved myself some patience and my fellow squadron mates

So if I fail the primary objective and land at the base, they should let me go on another mission.

I asked about this on the discord forum, and they confirmed it to me. If I encounter enemy aircraft halfway or on the way to the primary objective and after the fight I have no more ammunition, even if I don't complete the primary objective, I return to the base, land there, and they should let me go on the next mission. 🙂

Yep, exactly

Try to take these missions as you would in real life: objective is important, but your life is even more so. If you've been hit, or ran out of ammo, don't be afraid to retreat
