Trace1587 Posted February 19 Posted February 19 What excites you the most about the changes in Korea compared to Great Battles? I am very excited for the matchup of Mig-15 vs F-86. Although somewhat boring compared to fancy new jets, the engine update bringing multithreading and DLSS is very exciting. Hopefully this will really allow some impressive tech like large bomber formations without sacrificing performance. 1 Quote
Quetzalkoatl Posted February 19 Posted February 19 Personally I think that one of the biggest and most noticeable changes between IL-2 GB engine and IL-2 Series engine is addition of PBR. Which excites me as textures will have more depth to them, and as a result we're going to be one step closer to mistaking a sim footage with a real life one. Quote
Dani2033 Posted February 19 Posted February 19 (edited) What excites you the most about the changes in Korea compared to Great Battles? There are a few things, the one I'm most excited about is the potential increase in player base and being able to play again with my old squad. Changes into physics, models, environment ( the god damn buggy clouds)... And experiencing this transition era of the aviation. Edited February 19 by Dani2033 Quote
Noctis Posted February 19 Posted February 19 What excites me most is the leap into the Jet Age. Moving from piston-engine dogfights to managing energy at transonic speeds completely changes the mindset. It’s no longer just about turning tighter than your opponent, it’s about positioning, energy control, and making decisions in very small windows of opportunity. But honestly, what makes it truly special for me is the setting. I live in Korea, so flying over landscapes that are part of my everyday life — even in their historical form — adds a powerful sense of connection. It’s not just a new theatre of operations; it’s seeing the history of the place I call home come to life. That personal link makes the whole experience far more meaningful. Quote
Cambler Posted February 19 Posted February 19 New forum account, though I am a long term IL-2 player : ) Seems I misplaced my old account. While I like the setting, especially one with the Sabre and Mustang, personally I'm more excited about the technical changes. Like the new controls UI, graphics, flight models, museum, time warp, four engine bombers, etc. I very much look forward to a more modern experience after the long road with Great Battles. Quote
Flying_Colander Posted February 19 Posted February 19 Lufty, Thanks for more generosity. I enjoy the overlap between flight epochs in this series. I spent some fun hours facing off in a Potez 25 against Me 262. Now it'll be Mustangs vs Mig-15s. Cheers. Quote
Rip Posted February 19 Posted February 19 What excites you the most about the changes in Korea compared to Great Battles? for me its the AI and the Ground improvements thats one thing i feel like is lacking in great battles the planes are beatiful but the world feels empty looks like korea is fixing that Quote
smee_ger_ac Posted February 19 Posted February 19 What excites you the most about the changes in Korea compared to Great Battles? I'm most exited about the large formations, in IL-2 1946 this was possible but not in IL-2 BOS and the logistic system. Also the Korean War, I played a lot Rowan's Mig Alley back in the day and is a shame that we had to wait 27 years to fly again in this scenario. We have too few options to fly between WW2 and the 1980's. I hope the will add all the Navy planes. Quote
robzerg Posted February 19 Posted February 19 I’m most excited about and looking forward to the new expanded career system (I tend to play single player careers) which, combined with the dynamic environment I anticipate will make playing IL-2 Korea a really engaging and immersive experience. 2 Quote

AndreiTomescu Posted Friday at 04:24 PM Posted Friday at 04:24 PM Thank you! Maybe it's a sign that the fabled il-2 Sturmovik it's stepping well into the sun! Or maybe it's just the Mig-15 wanting to meet me digitally! 😄 2 Quote
Goodspeed Posted Friday at 04:36 PM Posted Friday at 04:36 PM Hello and thank you for this inquiry regarding our expectations for IL-2 Korea. Having a good understanding of the entire IL-2 series (IL-2 FB, IL-2 1946, BoS, Tank Crew, and CoD), I'm eager to see the improvements this version will bring. Looking closely at the screenshots, we can see a significant improvement in modeling, animation, and rendering, particularly in terms of textures, lighting, and brightness. We hope for real-time weather and time management, like in X-Plane or MSFS. We also hope for a multiplayer mode, and the ability to change skins and armaments and customize aircraft settings as easily as in DCS. Mission creation should be much simpler than in IL-2 BoS or Tank Crew. DCS remains a benchmark for simple mission creation. Also, the ability to switch from 2D to VR with a simple key combination, as in MSFS2024, is a real plus. The choice of Korea is very interesting because it represents the period of transition from propeller-driven to jet aircraft. I trust the development team who, as usual with each installment of the series, have always managed to bring a wealth of innovation to flight simulation. Thank you for all your work. Quote
