kalerider1 Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Hey all I'm after some opinions on using the HF8 (non pro version) and simshaker wings in IL2 before I pull the trigger on buying. Anyone using it think it's worthwhile? Easy to get working etc? I understand I also need to use the additional simshaker module for HF8 to use it with simshaker in IL2? I presume this setup will also work in DCS? Cheers in advance. Kale Quote
Panzerlang Posted February 12 Posted February 12 I tried it but it doesn't use transducers, it uses spinny motor things and is quite anaemic as a result. I returned it. Alexander9822 Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Hey, I use SimHub and I have the HF8 Pro. I like it, It adds something I didn't have before. Toke a bit of time to get used to it but I enjoy it. Quote
Bulldog Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Same here: nice piece of kit. Some of the guys in my virtual squadron also use it. BD Quote
kalerider1 Posted February 12 Author Posted February 12 Thanks for feedback all. I noticed the NLR software has been improved and now includes IL2 as a supported game. Has anyone tried it? Or is Simshaker still the recommendation? Quote
Bulldog Posted February 12 Posted February 12 S! I use SimShaker software from Andre. Works flawlessly. Do keep us in the loop on how you get on. BD 1 Quote
Alexander9822 Posted February 14 Posted February 14 I use SimShaker aswell. I tried NLR software but I couldnt get it to work. It had to do with the telementry port etc that I couldnt get right but SimShaker sets that up all for you so I just use that. Best 8 euros I ever spent. Quote
WWCraven Posted February 14 Posted February 14 Exactly the same issue I had while trying to setup the NLR software, agree that SimShaker works best with the HF8. Quote
kalerider1 Posted February 15 Author Posted February 15 Interesting. I thought you simply added an entry for telemetry port numbers into the startup config file and that’s the only thing required for NLR software. How do you find the simshaker wings software. Is it stable/bug free and easy to use? Quote
WWCraven Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Wish it was that easy, I'd love to at least try NLR's software. I couldn't find or figure out what numbers to put in, whatever I tried didn't work. Andre's software is extremely stable, bug free and so easy to use. Setup the sliders how you want, then forget about it, don't have to anything else unless you want to adjust your preferences. 1 Quote
kalerider1 Posted February 16 Author Posted February 16 (edited) I thought the recent NLR software told you what you need to do to get it working? Obviously that doesn't work then. I think you've convinced me to just stick with Andre's software. Edited February 16 by kalerider1 Quote
kalerider1 Posted February 16 Author Posted February 16 OK so I have everything working with simshaker wings. Easy enough to set up as Andre said. Connect seat pad via USB, connect power, install wings, add telemetry ports to il2 startup.cfg, start wings, select manual start, select hf8 in settings, and open il2. All good and working, however the default settings definitely need tweaking. I've noticed that engines are off by default (enabled now) and that machine guns don't cause much vibration (even after turning up guns 1 setting). Cannons are powerful as expected. It'd be great if those that are using this setup could share your settings so I've got a good starting point to work with. Quote
