BlackSix Posted November 26, 2025 Posted November 26, 2025 Ten Days of Autumn This single-player campaign tells the story of a difficult time in October 1941 for the German Luftwaffe on the Moscow front. The Campaign follows the actions of Luftwaffe Group I./JG 52 who were supporting the tip of the German thrust deep into Russia, flying missions from frontline airfields in the Kalinin area. German forces faced seemingly never-ending artillery strikes, attacks from Soviet ground forces, and sudden VVS air strikes. The intense combat as well as the tough weather conditions demanded maximum effort from Luftwaffe pilots, foreshadowing the looming collapse of Operation Typhoon. You get to play the role of commander of the second flight in the third squadron (3./JG 52). Timeframe: October 19-29, 1941 Unit: I./JG 52 Available aircraft: Bf 109 F-2 Duration: 15 missions Average playtime: 5 hours Author: Alexander =BlackSix= Timoshkov This campaign requires "IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Moscow". Historical Background After surrounding the armies of the Western and Reserve Fronts at Vyazma, German Command came to the conclusion that the enemy had no major forces in the Moscow vector that could be used to oppose the further advance of Army Group Centre. It was decided to turn the units of the 3rd Panzer Group and the 9th Army to the north, in the direction of Rzhev and Kalinin. On October 14, 1941, the formations of the 3rd Panzer Group of General G. Reinhardt burst into Kalinin virtually unopposed and captured the most important bridges over the Volga. Aircraft provided great support for ground forces, with bombing runs on roads and train routes as well as nearby airfields and residential areas. The fires that raged from October 12 on resulted in complete loss of control, panic, and mass riots – which made capturing the city easier. Relying on the continued successful advance of German forces towards Torzhok and Vyshny Volochok, the command of the 8th Air Corps made a rather hasty decision to relocate some aircraft units to recently occupied airfields in the area of Kalinin. Among them was an I./JG 52 that had just arrived at the Eastern Front. A huge and detailed review of the campaign by ShamrockOneFive Buy the campaign in our store Buy the campaign on Steam 1 Quote
Tiberia Posted December 6, 2025 Posted December 6, 2025 (edited) Just finished this campaign and its the first one I have played all the way through. I really enjoyed the generally small mission areas. I didnt have to spend 30 minutes flying one way. The mission variety was nice and I felt like the mission briefings gave them the flavor that made them immersive. I wish the F-2 had more ammo! One of the missions near the end I learned very well how tough the IL-2s were...they ate my ammo and kept going! Very good campaign that made me appreciate the aircraft! AndreiTomescu Posted December 7, 2025 Posted December 7, 2025 (edited) to follow a timeline, next is Fortress on the Volga (even better scripted campaign, on Stalingrad map) , and then Kerch-Eltigen Operation (Kuban map, this is harder a bit). Doing them like this gave me a sense of "career" , but being scripted campaigns give you a huge upgrade in immersion, imho. And the first in the timeline is actually Lions of Kalinin, which is my favourite, in this timeline, as features the good old yellow nose E7. 🙂 If you want to spice a bit , you can add the Allmost campaign by Samson, also Moscow map, different approach, with really weird and out of the box missions. Awesome, I already have all the campaigns mention purchased or downloaded. I will treat them like a "career" 🙂 Quote
BlackSix Posted December 10, 2025 Author Posted December 10, 2025 I recommend playing "Fortress on the Volga" right after "Ten Days", as it's a continuation of the story of the same main character. Quote
