ROFxArash Posted February 5 Posted February 5 Hi all is this still the place for Rise of Flight questions and discussion? I’m hoping the original ROF game still has some enthusiasts and support out here. onto my question: I purchased ROF on a CD years ago and have been enjoying it trouble free since. I have upgraded to a new gaming PC which does not have a CD drive so downloaded and installed the game from the ROF website, ran an updated and started the game. But the program will not accept my login credentials. I know the email and password are correct because I can use them to log in to the ROF website and see all my plane and add-on purchases. But I can’t log in to run the game to see if this expensive new PC was worth it. I’d appreciate any help. Thanks Quote

ROFxArash Posted February 6 Author Posted February 6 Hello again new information that may be helpful while waiting for a response to my ticket, i read online that after a new install, the update button on the first window must be run first ROF to work. I did so and now when launching the game from the desktop icon (i believe this runs the settings.exe) i get an error regarding a side-by-side configuration being incorrect. Following websearch advice to repair visual C++ instances did not fix this error. i’m not sure what to do now. Uninstall/ reinstall for a third time? Lastly i tried running the ROF.exe program in the bin_game folder directly and was surprised the game launched (in a small window since the settings program was sidestepped) and even accepted my log in credentials! Any thoughts on this?! Thanks again I upgraded my computer specifically to better enjoy ROF and this experience has been rather frustrating Quote
ROFxArash Posted February 7 Author Posted February 7 Thank you i ran the update twice but got the same side-by-side error and repairing Visual C++ did not clear it. so I have uninstalled/reinstalled ROF a fourth time. without running the update, at least I can get to the login window, but no further. starting directly from ROF.exe also gives me the same log in problem now. I am still hoping support at 1cgs will respond soon and set me straight. it’s been too many days since i was shot down or botched a landing and I miss it! 🙂 Quote
Ebot Posted February 7 Posted February 7 I went with a trick. I installed ROF via Steam (which automatically downloads what it needs). Although the distribution from the official website also has the necessary components (apparently), they don't work for some reason. But Steam downloaded something automatically, and ROF launched. After that, the one from the official website also launched. Registration went smoothly, including on the Steam version. Quote
