Azdack Posted February 3 Posted February 3 Hello I am going to have a new computer. Can I copy and paste my IL2BoS game from my old PC to paste it into my new PC?... I’m not sure but I don’t think so... What are then the files to save to recover my campaigns, missions, the progress of my career and especially the configurations of the joystick, the throttle, the paddle to put them back into the game once reinstalled into the new PC. Thank you for your answers. Quote
Doctor_Ramble Posted February 3 Posted February 3 (edited) If you use the game via Steam all you will have to do is create a 'game backup' and save it to an external drive. Then once you have your new PC setup with Steam you can restore it from that file. Maybe also do the following method just in case something happens with this method (even just back up the input, career, missions, campaigns and Tracks folders). If you use the game via the official launcher you will have to do something different. Go to the directory where your game is saved (Should be Il-2 Sturmovik Great Battles or Il-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad). If you open that you will find a data folder. All you need to do is copy that folder to an external drive, preferably formatted the same as your source and destination drive (if stored on C: it would be NTFS). Download the launcher onto your new PC and install it, but don't wait for it to download the game (make sure to close the downloader!). Instead copy the contents of your copied data folder to your new installation's data folder. All of your joystick configurations will be in the .../data/input/custom directory. There is also a folder called "Career", so that might also copy over your career data, but I have not tested this myself. Cheers, Ramble Edited February 3 by Doctor_Ramble 1 Quote
No_85_Gramps Posted February 3 Posted February 3 Just be careful with your controls. On the new PC Windows will probably give them new identifiers that will conflict with your current settings. I think on the old forum there was a fix for that. I just set-up a new PC and ended up having to re-bind all my controllers. 1 Quote
