I'd like to recreate a specific dogfight that included Oberstleutnant Helmut Bennemann's Bf-109G14/AS that he was flying on Oct 29, 1944.  At the time he was Geschwaderkommodore of JG53.  I'm looking for a template that I can skin out to replicate his A/C at the time of a big dogfight over Johlingen on that day.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I see that there is a BF-109 G-6 template in the "Collector Planes" list.  I am new to this so I'm not sure how to go about purchasing it (I am assuming it is a premium template, correct?)  For what I want to do, I can use this in place of a G-14/AS if one is not available (and if that G-6 is an AS).  I see that there is a game provided G-6AS in the Battle of Normandy.  That is the template that I would like to use, if available.

G6/AS is what you are looking for. The collector plane is indeed a combo of G6/AS and G14/AS.

I apologize for the the newbie questions.  Thanks for pointing out the G6/AS.  Just to give you a bit of the backstory, I'm working to re-create what the 354th FG called "Dogfight Maximus" on Oct 29, 1944.  They had 35 of their 36 flyable A/C in the air that day.  My father was in one of them as part of the Fighter Sweep supporting the dive bombing of airfields at Schwabish Hall and Giebelstadt.  He was shot down that day and was a POW for six months.  It turned out (he never knew, since he passed away at a young age), that his opponent was Helmut Benneman, the head of JG53 at the time.  It was Benneman's last aerial victory of the war.

I put together a book for family and friends about him a couple of years ago describing his WWII experience.  And I just finished skinning out Raptorattacker's P51B to replicate the ship that Dad was flying the day he was shot down.  I'd like to do the same with Benneman's A/C.  I know, from Luftwaffe historical records and experts from the UK and Germany, that he was flying a G-14/AS that day.

Sorry for the long post.  To wrap up, I thought that I had to purchase the G6/AS in the "Collector Plane" section, but I just finished downloading it (my misunderstaning, apparently).

Thanks again for the info.

Hi mate, no apologize needed. Thanks for sharing your story with us. Appreciated. I take it that you aim to create an appropriate skin for Bennemanns G14/AS. That certainly can be done using the skin-template for the collector G6/AS which has been linked above by Luke. However I guess for controlling your creative work and finetuning you should also own the G6/AS collector plane yourself to check your work in game and not only download the skin-template. As already said its a collector plane which can be used both in the Bodenplatte and Normandy modules. So in conclusion for skinning the G6/AS you IMHO need to own 1) the collector plane, 2) the skin-template and 3) at least one of the theatre modules (Normandy or Bodenplatte). All the best with your work.

You're welcome regarding the back story.  I went ahead and purchased the G-6AS Collector Plane.  (I had already purchased the Battle of Normandy.) Thanks for the tip.  I'll keep you posted on how the skinning goes...

I'm coming along nicely on the G-6AS skin for Bennemann's A/C.  I'm looking for the JG53 Pik-As emblem.  When searching, I saw a reference to an IL-2 "Emblem Pack".  Can't find it anywhere on the Forum.  Does such a thing exist and, if so, could someone please provide the link?

Thanks.

Hello bbow1

this is a folder I uploaded with a lot of skinning stuff, You may need, these Emblems and Helpers etc. in this Folder are used for skinning by many known Skin Artist since the first Days of IL-2, You need some knowledge about picking Parts from PNG, PSD Templates to have a invisible Backround, or overlapping items, but even in this Case You´ll find help here in the forums, look through the Stuff there´s a lot of JG Emlems and so much more, i suggest download everything and make a skinning resources folder, some things, You think, You may have no use for today You may need later.

Happy Skinning

Thanks to everyone for the comments and photos.  At the time of my Dad's shootdown, Benneman was the Geschwaderkommodore of JG53, so I marked up the A/C accordingly.  I have some pics from Jochen Prien's book of what it may have looked like in Oct, '44.  I've still some work to do.  I need to enlarge the Pik-As emblem along with a few other things.

Thanks Again,

Brian

What an amazing resource! I've seen a couple packs around but nothing even near this comprehensive.

collected over the years, the good old il-2 community was a very creative place, i loved, some of these Artists are thankfully still Skinning, i kept their Stuff and added my stuff, so this collection grew to that size. I hope to pay my respect to the Artists by keeping their resources alive and being used.

I just wanted to thank you personally for the Luftwaffe images.  I've been away from the skinning activity (and the Froum) for the past several days due to travel.  But I'm back and will immediately start finishing off the JG53 Geschwaderkommodore's 109, thanks to your help.  When complete, I'll post a pic.

Thanks Again...
