1C Game Studios LukeFF Posted January 28 1C Game Studios Posted January 28 Hey everyone! Earlier today, Han answered some more questions we've gathered from our various socials. You can read the topic here: 4 3 2 Quote
robzerg Posted January 29 Posted January 29 It’s possibly the Reddit site/format, but the questions seem very hostile and rather disrespectful! I’m quite new to this iteration of the IL-2 franchise, but I am continually impressed with what they have achieved with Great Battles, and with the breadth and depth of content. Kudos to Daniel for answering so calmly and openly, I’m genuinely excited and impressed with what I’ve seen of IL-2 Korea so far. 3 Quote

They could be Russian, and translated back in to English - it never reads well IMHO. Quote

It hasn't been my experience. Reddit on the other hand... and flight sim reddit... can be kind-of hostile. I think it is pretty common with web 2.0 / social media platforms in general... But, yes, it is impressive how open, clinical, and precise the answers are to somewhat loaded questions... and also to consider that these are the questions the devs chose to answer. Many other developers might choose to only answer questions which are worded in a friendlier way, these devs clearly feel that they have good answers and that is sufficient. Quote
robzerg Posted January 29 Posted January 29 I know that, as a professional, if someone asked me a question in anything approaching those tones, I'd tell them to p*ss off (but then I am self-employed ) Quote
Aapje Posted January 29 Posted January 29 It's not clear where they sourced the questions from. But I also noticed the hostile tone to a lot of them. And the 2nd question seems rather weird to me. Loading times to get into the missions are not at all bad for me and even with VR it is almost never choppy. I wonder how old the hardware is of the person asking that question. 2 Quote

My PC is as powerful as they come but it still takes a very long time, making config-testing a royal PITA. Quote

Col.Sanders Posted January 30 Posted January 30 I believe the hostility is due to what has been shown so far, very little of the things people would expect to see about a combat flight game. And the vast majority of players seem to not like their vagueness and announcing they are going to be announcing things at an unannounced date. Quote

They've been very transparent about flight model development, engine models, damage models, new terrain technologies, infantry and ground vehicles, the planned campaign system, even the user interface - all the things one would expect to see in a flight simulator - and with hours of content, often going into incredible levels of detail. They've released 38 Briefing Room videos and approximately 20 videos of in-engine technology. Sure some people would prefer them to avoid hinting at possible future announcements and just not share anything prior to the product being feature complete - but a lot of other people do like knowing there will be a DLC (even if we don't know what will be in it)... ...but how does any of that merit hostility? Being hostile seems quite disproportionate, and - if it seems normal to be hostile based on such small things - then I must suspect the Internet must be normalising quite toxic behaviours. 4 Quote

To be honest I am not really convinced any of the questions were hostile, but since that is the word being used I used it as description too. But my point still remains they have focused on the graphical and career improvements. Although those are much appreciated, I think based on a lot of reactions people want to see game play and see the improved AI. Based on a large swath of the community still playing 46, and it's AI always being touted, I think that is top two requested features for Korea to improve on. One good thing that has come from this is the acknowledgement of not wanting to show work that isn't completed. This gives a better indication of how far along they are in the process. Quote
SilverFalcon Posted Wednesday at 10:50 AM Posted Wednesday at 10:50 AM Going through additional QA below, I am quite happy to see there will be some help for communication outside chat (which is useless in VR) like marks on map. Basic commands/request similar to AI related orders system would be appreciated as well (this is a strength of War Thunder - easy to have basic communication without team radio). What worries me quite a bit is absence of Dynamic Foveated Rendering - this is something was expecting for any new flight sim in era of high res VR goggles with eye tracking. 2 Quote
CatteMoto Posted yesterday at 03:27 AM Posted yesterday at 03:27 AM I didn't see anything related to the most important question of all— what about cockpit photos? Currently it is rather annoying to have to copy+paste a photo with "custom_photo" filename into each individual plane's file-folder. If it were a single occurrence it would be tolerable but if one is to verify file integrity for the whole game, it replaces each placed photo with the default picture. Is there a plan to streamline this experience, and allow for custom photos to be sorted and assigned using the in-game interface? 2 Quote
Aapje Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Do you use the same picture for every plane? I use the mod with cockpit pictures detailing the information for each plane, and just install it with JSGME, so it is not any real work. But ideal would be a two layer system where you could either have a different picture per plane, or a single picture for each plane. PS. 'Verifying file integrity' is only a Steam issue. Quote
CatteMoto Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago No I use different photos for the planes based on era, nationality, and what kind of person I think might have flown that model Quote
Aapje Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago I would suggest making a separate folder in JSGME format then. That way you can always just reapply the changes very quickly if things get reset. Quote
