rianon79 Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Всем привет! Вопрос такой: настройка гарнитуры Quest 2. Какая самая актуальная информация сейчас есть? Quote
Gutholz Posted February 10 Posted February 10 (edited) Quote in english: Hi everyone! I have a question about setting up my Quest 2 headset. What's the most up-to-date information available? I just finished setting up a Quest 2 some days ago. I installed Meta Horizon Link software on PC. You need to create a meta account. I used a USB-C Link cable. My cable has an extra box for power supply, so the battery can charge faster. It also can work wireless but I did not try. To play: Turn on VR headset. Put headset on head. Use the hand-controller to enable "Link Connection" by pointing at the menus in VR. Start IL2. Edited February 10 by Gutholz Quote
Stumble Posted February 12 Posted February 12 In your experience, Is USB-C cable sufficient or is it important to source the fibre optic Meta quest link cable for higher bandwidth? Quote
Gutholz Posted February 12 Posted February 12 I use this cable: https://www.amazon.de/dp/B0BRQMVCXL I did not notice any problems that seem bandwidth related. Very rarely I get a very short flash, like one full white or black frame. Maybe once per hour. Not sure if that is a problem with the Quest, PC, cable or something totally different. No noticeable compression artefacts or stuttering. Tracking works smooth. Quote
Aapje Posted February 12 Posted February 12 I think that the flashing is just a game issue. I've seen others report it and I have it too. Quote
Stumble Posted February 13 Posted February 13 (edited) Ahh okay, good to know. Has anyone had experience running quest VR on linux (im running linux mint distro). I am thinking of finding a second hand VR, and quest 2 seem to be the most accessible for where I am (and how much I'm willing to spend for now). Does anyone have any particular recommendations? Its been a fair few years since I've even launched IL2. Perhaps VR is my way back in! S! Edited February 13 by Stumble Quote
Gutholz Posted February 15 Posted February 15 To me the Quest 2 still seems useable despite its age. Maybe other VR sets are lighter or have more FOV or better resolution but it definately seems good enough to enjoy. Spotting and identifying distant planes can be problematic but that is just part of the game. It seems to be a problem for everyone, no matter the setup. When buying used: Keep in mind that beside the headset you also need the handcontroller thingies. Not for playing but for configuring and enabling link to PC. (if there is a way to do it without handcontroller then I have not yet found it) No experience with VR in Linux, all my computers running Linux are too old for VR. Quote
Aapje Posted February 15 Posted February 15 The better lenses of the Quest 3 make a huge difference, but opinions vary on what is acceptable quality. Do keep in mind that you probably want a better headstrap, although a basic elite-style headstrap isn't too expensive. Quote
