Edited January 27 by FF*Pup*09 7 Quote
Catch Posted January 28 Posted January 28 (edited) Work on the "Siege and Liberation" module is not the only thing we plan to do this year for Great Battles. Soon, we plan to make an important announcement about something new and long-awaited that will be coming to you in the near future. Stay tuned for news and stay in touch! Finally, the Fokker V.8 Fünf Decker. I've been waiting for this all my life. Spoiler Edited January 28 by Avimimus Edited to put this off-topic abomination in a spoiler 1 15 1 Quote
jnfrombigt Posted January 28 Posted January 28 (edited) Absolutely love it! Maps are just incredible. Got it this morning and spent hours into the late night switching between Leningrad and Odessa. Very appropriate day for the introduction. Thanks for the new experience. jn Update: These games plus Korea inspired me to get a new VR headset. IL2 was the reason I got into VR years ago to begin with and since the first CV1 then G2 and Varjo Aero. A few weeks ago received the Chrystal Super Micro Oled. Right now my settings are high with the clouds low and I get a consistent 60 fps. Turning the settings down just a little and I was in the 75-85 range. Edited January 28 by Jet_F_76 Quote
Crockett Posted January 28 Posted January 28 I built my new computer in a nick of time! Flew 3 single player career missions tonight with good frame rates -- 2 missions in Leningrad and one in Odessa! In my Leningrad missions I got shot down once in my LaGG-3 and wounded the other time and bailed out without dying!. Odessa didn't treat me well either but I lived to fight another day! Thank you for these new battles! 2 Quote

I hope you will correct the following shortcomings on the map of Leningrad. In Kronstadt, instead of the Naval Cathedral, you have placed St. Isaac's Cathedral. In Peterhof, instead of the Grand Palace, there is an incomprehensible structure. I'm not even mentioning the Catherine Palace in Pushkin. Instead of it, there is also an incomprehensible structure. However, I would like to mention that the Vyborg Castle has been recreated very well, and there is even a city train station and a round tower. Thank you very much for this! It seems that our Finnish colleagues have done a great job. In addition, I would like to have at least the eastern shore of Lake Ladoga on the map, so that I can see the entire "Road of Life". The Kazan Cathedral and even the monuments to Kutuzov and Barclay de Tolly are very well done. However, a typical church is also placed instead of the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood. Instead of a monument to Alexander II, there is an incomprehensible obelisk in the square in front of St. Isaac's Cathedral Perhaps a person who lived in Leningrad could participate in this project? Will the map eventually get bigger? I remember seeing a map where there was a grayed-out area outside of our current borders that was said to be in the works for after release. This was back in 2024, I think. Quote
76.IAP-Black Posted January 28 Posted January 28 I have to say, these maps are one of the best looking ingame so far! The attention to detail, even the forrest looks like a forrest is so great! Thanks alot for the work and effort put into the maps! Thanks guys 🤩 2 2 Quote
Gelete_Rojo Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Hi, A question before buying. I want to keeo Il2 as a easternnfront air simulatir and keep only the releases related to such front, but I only play offline. Are there any new carreer campaigns than can be added and linked tonthe current path: Moscow-Stalingrad-Kuban... Thanks in advance Quote
kraut1 Posted January 28 Posted January 28 as far as I know the new Odessa and Leningrad careers will be linked with the rest of the Eastern Front careers. But I don't know the exact current status. Beside of the careers their are many further eastern front Scripted Campaigns available. Some already included in IL-2 GB and many user created in the forum. 1 Quote

Thanks in advance There are three careers (Leningrad 1941, Odesa 141, Odesa 1944) that can be played right now. There'll be another one (Leningrad 1944), and the existing ones will be extended further. I also expect a few scripted campaigns to be released. Even for me! That said, I'll raise you: Spoiler Surprisingly enough, the Lloyd 40.08 actually would have had reasonable handling characteristics - if it could have successfully taken off. I built a model in X-Plane years ago which validated this. I marvel at the fact that I might actually have a better idea of this thing's handling than anyone in human history... given that it doesn't seem to have passed taxi trials. 1 1 Quote

AndreiTomescu Posted January 28 Posted January 28 finally opened the new map. a few thoughts: - the map is really wonderful, many thanks to the Finnish lads that put a lot of soul and passion into making it. - the Finnish units, with who i wanted to play a career, are....out of planes, so unplayable. couldn't even do one with some finnish I-153. So, are there plans to actually populate the Finnish airforce with the planes previously mentioned, like Curtiss, G50, Fokker? Or at least a good old 109 ? But finnish 109? - The Odessa 1944 campaign has the romanian Bf 109, Hs 129 and Ju 88 planes with german crosses........ So the new map is great , but only for Soviet side, or German one. Or for sight seeing. I hope the Finnish airforce will be given a chance. IMHO they and we deserve it. Also to be noted that the new Canadian campaign, being @BlackSix , has to be awesome. 1 Quote
AndreiTomescu Posted January 28 Posted January 28 20 minutes ago, sandmarken said: Now i have to come up with a new idea! I guess it is a must for you to do something with the Finnish air force. Now that i know that many norwegians volunteered with the finnish army during the winter war..... But for that we need finnish skins, at least for the Bf 109. And a new time frame, since the finnish 109 came only in march 1943. The Buffalo is missing, the I-153 maybe? with finnish markings? 1 Quote

I think @Juri_JS is working on a Gefechtsverband Kuhlmey campaign? Thanks. What I dont understand, since I am quite new to the system, is if these 41 and 44 careers foloow the path to the already existing long career mode Moscow-Stalingrad-Kuban. In other words, one pilot can fly the Leningrad 44 campaign after ending Kuban or this is not possible? In any case thanks for your prompt answers and your patience. Take care. Quote
AcesDarthBubu Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Took a VR sight seeing flight on the Leningrad map. Must say it's really a work of art. Nicely done. FPS is quite smooth overall, only encountered drops at the city itself. 1 1 Quote
