BlackSix Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Ram Squadron The 2nd Tactical Air Force was tasked with providing direct support to the British and Canadian forces during the Normandy landings and subsequent combat operations. Due to the Luftwaffe's weak resistance, multiple squadrons of Spitfires were also utilized to attack the enemy's lines of communication and targets in the rear. They completed these objectives while continuing patrols and escorting ground-attack and bomber aircraft. You will lead a section of Spitfires from the 401st Squadron of the 126th Wing of the Royal Canadian Air Force. Along with attacks on various ground targets, in the summer of 1944, the squadron's pilots engaged in several successful, large-scale air battles, laying the foundation for the future glory of the most effective unit of the 2nd Tactical Air Force. The campaign will culminate in missions to destroy the encircled German forces in the Falaise Pocket. All missions are based on the combat log of the 401st Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force and, where possible, reconstruct the real ground and air situation that developed during the Battle of Normandy. Timeframe: June 23rd – August 19th, 1944 Unit: No. 401 Squadron 'Ram' RCAF Available aircraft: Spitfire Mk.IXc Duration: 15 missions Average playtime: 10 hours Languages: English, Spanish and Russian Author: Alexander =BlackSix= Timoshkov This campaign requires IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Normandy. Special thanks to @Cananas for translating the briefings into Spanish. Buy the campaign in our store Buy the campaign on Steam 15 2 Quote
1 Quote

Humbre79 Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Instant buy. I waited this campaign for a long long time! @BlackSix do you work on your project campaign for the SpitIXe on Bodenplatte's map? Many thanks for this one. 1 Quote
BlackSix Posted January 28 Author Posted January 28 Guys, thank you all very much for your attention to the campaign, have a nice game) 5 hours ago, Humbre79 said: Instant buy. Yes, everything was agreed upon at the end of last year, and I've already begun development. The Ram Squadron's release required my time and attention (running three testing cycles and creating final screens) but now my full attention is focused on the new campaign. It will be a direct continuation of the current one, and I'll likely continue the protagonist's story but this time I'll show the combat actions of two other squadrons from the 126th Wing RCAF. AcesDarthBubu Posted January 31 Posted January 31 Enjoying the campaign so far, but I do have a question as I normally play career and PWCG. On missions that without any enemies encounters, do I need to go around the waypoint to trigger something or do I just need to look harder ? Felt that I missed something for sure. 1 Quote

I suppose you mean an aerial enemies. This time I tried to do everything accordingly with the squadron's operations record book, and if they didn't conduct air battles on this day, then you will not meet anyone either. The campaign has several missions with ground targets attacks, where there will be no encounters with German fighters. Also, in the second half there will be two missions where you will perform a very important task but which will do without shooting at all (in the first case, you can attack ground targets on the way back, which is always many in any mission, and in the second you can still see German aircraft). There is definitely no need to go around the waypoint, the campaign works somewhat differently from a career, and the war usually goes on regardless of your actions. If you want, ask questions under a spoiler on specific missions, and I'll answer you what should have happened there. And be sure to keep subtitles on to get guidance from the ground station. Quote

Thanks for your response @BlackSix, I like it that way that the war goes on with or without my involvement. Knowing that I don't need to trigger/hit all waypoints is enough for me. 1 Quote

This has caused me to order it! That level of realism and immersion is definitely what appeals to me. That said, it might take me a few years before I have the time to play all the way through it (given the lack of a time-skip feature and how incredibly intense my schedule will be). 1 Quote

I always try to keep missions short, initially choosing units based close to the front lines for the campaign, and then selecting tasks with objectives located close to your airfield. Sometimes, the time from takeoff to the start of a dogfight is only 5-7 minutes, so you might have time to complete this campaign)) 1 Quote

bdguideservice Posted February 19 Posted February 19 It’s been a while since I’ve had time to boot the computer up but this campaign is definitely giving me some incentive. Was curious if it had any voice acting and dialogue like the Hell Hawks campaign? Quote
