jokash Posted January 19 Posted January 19 I completed the campaign and enjoyed it all but the last mission, which felt very anticlimactic. Few reasons why, - 1. Cant setup plane - I've flown in on white He111 and I'm going out on a green one (also the plane was supposed to be locked with bombs to simulate load). - 2.You start with engines off and need to taxi - where story wise you were supposed to do a quick pickup of the wounded and head back. -3.The U2 attack looks silly, I don't know why the massed U2 attack on airfield, just makes no sense (maybe better would be somekind of machine gun fire from the ground if that is possible) 4.The trip back is uneventful- no enemy planes,no flak (maybe cause i went a little too south before going back west),the weather is clear morning. It just felt like a ferry trip It's really a shame cause the mission before that is very atmospheric and He111 is a beast compared to Ju52, which you fly in other missions.Maybe the last mission was supposed to be the last German flight over Stalingrad which occurred on 3 of February and involved a He111 dropping supplies but not landing, and heading back. That way the campaign would end with big flyout back and forth (and seeing the isolated pocket fights in Stalingrad itself). Everything else up until last mission was beautiful... I'm gonna miss "Aunt Ju" Quote

The skins should have been green both ways, of course. The U2s attack the airfield as it was reported they where often used to attacked inside the pocket, and you can see IL2s attack just after takeoff. After takeoff, you get attacked by a Yak-1. I figured that if you survived that attack, it would be enough action for the campaign. There was no report I could find that the real last He-111 was attacked during the escape (except by a tank while taking off). You start with the engine off as the source used indicated that there were several hours between the landing and the takeoff. Quote

I selected the white myself since i can setup the plane in the second to last mission...in the last mission you cant setup the plane with anything...no skin,no fuel - nothing.I didn't see any IL-2's,but i didn't taxi to runway either...i just started the engines and took off from where i was parked. Thats weird i never locked any mods in the last mission. The last he111 was picture as green in the painting that inspired the mission! I cant remember exactly when the il2s attack, i think they shoud do it very close to the take off. Just after as to simulate a narrow escape. Quote
JMax Posted January 19 Posted January 19 I am just past the half-way mark in AIRLIFT. Excellent immersion in this.... Then I realized it was built by 'Sandmarken' and wasnt surprised, since WarInTheChannel was so good. Thanks for making these series! 1 1 Quote
