Snowbird Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Hi all, As a big fan of the 354th Fighter Group, I've always liked the idea of flying a P-51 squadron through the invasion of Normandy and onto the end of the war. Unfortunately as far as IL-2 goes the 354th moves outside of the area where the Rhineland career takes place eventually. I've seen other mods out there where people have switched aircraft used by squadrons in career and I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to do this for one of the P-47 squadrons that you have access to throughout both Normandy and Rhineland. Snowbird Posted January 20 Author Posted January 20 Specifically what I'm having trouble doing is recreating something that SkyCat1969 did for me in the old forum (https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/90837-box-il-2-extended-careers-the-skycat1969-years/#comment-1353724) He changed the No. 416 RCAF to fly Mustang IIIs in Normandy and Mustang IVs in Bodenplatte. For some reason something has gone wrong with the mod since his last fix and I'm trying fix this on my end. I've gotten the P-51 added to 416 RCAF, but it has the American skin and I can't get rid of the existing spitfires. Quote
Skycat1969 Posted January 24 Posted January 24 What exactly are you trying to do? RCAF 416 across both campaigns? Or convert an American P-47 Squadron (ie, 22nd FS) to P-51 across both campaigns? Quote
Skycat1969 Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Try this. I changed 22nd Fighter Squadron, USAAF, from P-47 to P-51 Mustang for both Normandy and Bodenplatte. I also combined and refreshed my earlier edits for 416 Squadron RCAF. Now you should be able to play a long Mustang career for either air force. 22_FS and 416 Sqdn changed to P-51.zip 1 Quote
Snowbird Posted January 29 Author Posted January 29 Oh man thank you! This is amazing! Basically i was just trying to recreate your old No. 416 mod but then I got deep enough into the process that I figured I wanted to figure out how to do these kinds of edits in general and thought I'd try modding a different squadron. TheAlpaca Posted February 6 Posted February 6 @Skycat1969 Hello! I dont mean to be too much of a bother. I love what you did with your Skycats1969 Years in the old forums. If you have the time or are willing to "show" how you did this, I would love to have a P-39 in Stalingrad Campaign, like the IL2 1946 game. Been personally loving plying that plane lately and wish it had more love for it. Quote
Skycat1969 Posted February 7 Posted February 7 I'll work on a simple guide. Adding the P-39 to a Soviet squadron in Stalingrad should be relatively easy for a starting point. One of my first projects was changing a Sturmovik squadron in Kuban to Soviet P-47s for ground attack. That was a lot of fun to fly. I'm interested in seeing what other players might come up with. 1 Quote

Awesome, thank you so much! I know me personally there would be stuff I'd love to add in and not have to be a bother and asking!. Making a guide would be stellar, thanks for all the work! Miss your videos too man 🙂 Quote
Skycat1969 Posted February 7 Posted February 7 (edited) Here you go. It's not illustrated with screenshots. I hope it makes sense. The modded career is included so you can at least fly it.
