Sparviero Posted January 17 Posted January 17 I'm a night fighter enthusiast, and I fondly remember a beautiful mod for the IL-2 1946 that simulated the onboard radar. This was complemented by a mod for the 110, featuring Schräge Musik. The gameplay experience was, in my opinion, simply thrilling and completely different from other fighter modes. It's always been known that onboard radar is an unattainable feature in the IL-2 GB, but I recently played the Hornet's Nest campaign, in which, in some missions, radar information communicated to the gunner/radio operator is simulated. This is done by exploiting the Lorenz radio guidance system integrated into the 410 (and many German fighters), simulating direction and distance. Altitude information is missing, but it's known that this can be provided by the co-pilot. In short, while it doesn't actually simulate onboard radar, the end result for the pilot is very similar to reality, where the pilot simply received information via voice from the radio operator. In this case, the Lorenz would also be there to make everything more interesting. Ultimately, producing the G-4 variant with Schräge Musik does not seem particularly complex (the third station, that of the radio operator, might not even be made at cockpit level, since the radar system would not actually be made, but only mimed) and the result could be exciting: think of a DLC with the aircraft and a campaign! 1 1 Quote
jokash Posted January 17 Posted January 17 What planes would you hunt? Again there is only B-25 and B-26.For starters we would benefit a whole lot more if we got AI B-17's or B-24's 1 Quote

Sparviero Posted January 18 Author Posted January 18 I remember this mod but I don't know of this (great) video. I really hope to have some news of his work soon. Quote
kraut1 Posted January 18 Posted January 18 I can remember ca. 10 ago I flew some night fighter missions with IL-2 1946 with the Dark Blue World Mod + Command & Control Mod with the Lichtenstein. The Schräge Musik was for me very importent because the bomber rear gunners had really good eyes...🤣 Quote

I hope in something official like the 110 G-4 or at least a good mod like that in the video 1 Quote
