At the moment i have the whole IL-2 GB on a hdd.

I want to install it on a new ssd.

After downloading the launcher what do i have to do?

1, Is it possible to have two copies with different path without problems?

One on the HDD (this will be deleted later), the other on the SSD

2, Is it possible after installing the launcher on the new SSD then copy the whole folder of 222 GB on the new SSD?

Thank you

install the game clean on the SSD. then copy over the "data" folder. The jgsme should be installed new on the SSd, and if you use mods, reinstall them.

I don't think so; however you can use directory junctions:

First delete the old installation, then install on your SSD. Then, in command prompt:

mkdir /J old_installation_path_on_your_HDD new_path_on_your_SSD

This'll make the old location link to the new one.

I've just copied the entire folder to another drive and setup a new shortcut to that new locations launcher. The original that I copied from remained on its original drive. You can copy the entire folder multiple times to move it around, no need to reinstall the game with a new launcher download.

I think that's what you're asking, you can have a copy of the same game installationin several drives with shortcuts to each launcher on your desktop and they'll all run. Of course that'd be a headache doing that to keep them all synced.🙂

In fact, the install I'm running from has moved across 3 SSDs and has been through 3 systems each with a fresh windows install too. I7 4770k to R7 5800x to R7 9800X3D. Still has screenshots in the screenshot directory from 2017.

Thank you, yes, that´s what i meant.

If i delete the original folder (on the old HDD) after copying to my new SSD, no problems should occur, or?

If so, that would be great.

Thank´s guys for your help. Much appreciated!!!👍

IL-2 is one of the few programs that keeps everything in one folder. You can move it anywhere and just make new shortcuts to it with no fear. If you're concerned, just rename the folder on your old drive, instead of deleting it, until you are satisfied there are no issues.

Yep, as DryHeat says its all self contained so there's no other parts of the program that are placed in other random places such as in the AppData folder that need to be accounted for. So once you confirm the new copy is good, which it should be unless something interrupts the copy like a power outage, can go ahead and delete the original.

If you have anything else that points to the current install, like the il2 skins program -  HSD I think is the name, you'll need to run that program and point to the new location but otherwise its a very easy process to keep copying the GB folder around.
