Looks great Julian, but shouldn't D-9's get a dedicated thread?

Great job Julian!

I would like to share a few photos of this aircraft.

The aircraft was somewhat of a "hybrid" in that it was basically a FW-190A-8 with a FW-190A-6 gun cowl.  The aircraft was apparently crashed by Lt. Bruce Carr when he took it for a joy ride and managed to crash land it when he couldn't lower the landing gear. May have been  used as a hack by his squadron. The incident took place at Ansbach according to several sources.

I think both ways would be acceptable since the aircraft had an A-6 fuselage gun hood.Maybe ground crew did this because of not having correct hood to make it flyable.  It appears to have the  A-8 wing and fuselage. In some photos you can see the upper wing bulge for the outboard 20mm. You can see the bent outboard pitot tube on the left wing indicating A-7/8.

Thanks for doing this aircraft! It's one of my favorites.

Julian,

Two photos of a couple of FW-190A-8s from the same unit as "blue 31" They don't have the history of blue 13 but they would still make interesting skins. They would look great flying with blue 13!

The first photo is of " blue 17" ,with the seven being in an unusual form. The last two photos show another A-8 , "Blue 19". I have seen this illustrated as red 19. Not sure which color is correct. I am assuming camouflage for both are similar to "Blue 13" with some variations. Luftwaffe late war camo is usually speculative at best.

If possible could you do one or both when you have the time? I think both of them would make interesting skins. Not too many skins from this unit in Great Battles. I hope you can do these at some point.

Hello @Wurgerfanluft68
I'll get to it. As you say, the 7 isn't very clear.
I'll see what comes out. It will be more or less like the 31, but with variations in the camouflage according to the photos.

Hi Julian,

I have attached a drawing of what the "7" looked like. I Can't remember where I found the illustration. I am not sure about the coloration of the camouflage. It looks kind of iffy to me. The number ,however, appears to be generally correct with the exception the stroke width. It looks a little thin compared to the photo of the actual aircraft.

I think what you did with "Blue 31" as far as the width, height and color would be fine.

Thank you

I have a question: would that be an A-6 or an A-8?

I believe it is an A-8,

I believe it is an A-8, The fuselage gun hood is the giveaway. 13mm fuselage armament.
