That's fun enough, but the actual train engine is the real prize. I've come to find that not even in my Bf-110 can I manage to pop the locomotive with the cannons! Is it possible to do so, or am I just wasting ammunition trying? I ask mostly because there's plenty of historical footage of Mustangs and Thunderbolts sending towers of steam bellowing out of train engines with just the M2s, so I figured cannons would be able to do the trick in game. I have a sneaking suspicion that I perhaps may need to adjust my point of aim to an odd spot due to the locomotive having a strange hitbox. On replays I do often see my rounds flying through the physical model, but I'd love to know where exactly to aim. In my experience large caliber HE work mic better against the trains that AP funnily enough. MK 103 or BK-5 HE are both very effective in my experience. Even though it’s a bit counter intuitive Quote
Dash,Polder Posted January 13 Posted January 13 There are timers on partial damage accumulation, once you drop a bomb or fire guns into a target the clock starts, if you haven't reached the full level of destruction points and the time expires the target with no new damage it is reset back to full strength. Your damaging the engine with lite machineguns, just not at a fast enough rate to add up to full destruction level. It would cost to many cpu cycles to track all the damage levels of every thing being attacked that's non-player for more than a few seconds each. Quote
Avimimus Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Does anyone have the actual convergence used by the Ju-87G? Or the Il-2? They were designed for hits below the waterline, but as flooding isn't modelled but incendiary damage is - it is always better to go for the HE variants. 1 Quote
