assign trim up and down to joystick

Hi I want to assign the command pith trim up and down Rctrl cursor up and ctrl cursor down but it does not work on the joystick but only from the keyboard the game recognizes the joystick and all the various keys

Hello!  I don't have the answer but I have some questions that might help.  Can you assign anything to those joystick buttons?  What kind of joystick is it?  Have you used the joystick diagnostic software to ensure those inputs work?

Are you trying to assign trim to a kuhli hat switch or maybe something that is actually an axis?

Are there also separate assignments for up and down, as well as up/down?  I'm away from home and don't have il2 in front of me otherwise I would check myself.

nothing to do, the assignment to the joystick doesn't work, you can't assign the trim command to the joystick

Glad you got it working!  Sorry I wasn't able to help.  It's a good call, too.  I forgot that there are like 3 ways to adjust trim.  I should have asked what plane you were flying.  I think German planes often have adjustable stabilizers instead of trim tabs.

Also some aircraft use buttons for trim like the Fw-190 (stabilizer trim) and the Pe-2 (elevator trim).  Others use an axis (generally a wheel), which you can set on a wheel or lever...

I just set all of them to a clicky hat button on my hotas.  How fast the trim changes depends on the airplane.
